Directing

As a new and upcoming director, I’ll be chronicling my journey towards directing larger productions that still capture the tenacious and experimental spirit that indie cinema affords you.

With my directing, as with my writing, I am interested in exploring societal issues through a genre lens. My approach to filmmaking is rooted in rigirous pre-production work to explore all creative interpretations of an original vision, and a meticulously planned production to follow. Not the plan will stay the same once we get there, but boy can we dream…

tunnel of love (lost)

My directorial debut was an exercise in a creating high quality short on a budget of nothing.

Written and directed by me, Tunnel of Love (Lost) follows Moe - an emotionally stunted man fresh from a break up as he is stalked by an ominous creature lurking in the shadows…

With this short tone piece, I wanted to explore how the language of horror and thriller could communicate a character’s immaturity and how it could turn to something much darker altogether.

I was fortuate enough to collaborate with an incredible crew that brought together the piece, each department taking on the references I provided and working alongside me to create something new altogether.

For Tunnel, I was keen to unify all facets of the short under a mechanical horror motif. Its score is industrially inspired, its sound design distorts sounds of engines and gears to something techno-organic, its imagery is defined by the car surrounded by a brutalist, cold and uninviting setting.
